PROJECT: VISUAL IDENTITY
A Berlin-based magician specializing in close-up illusion commissioned a poster, postcard, and website to promote a show built around visual deception and sleight of hand. Because his performances unfold just inches from the audience, the promotional campaign needed to capture the sense of surprise and perceptual play that defines his work.
The concept was inspired by an unexpected detail: his surname, Hase, means "hare" in German. Drawing on the familiar image of the magician's rabbit, I created an illustrated alter ego that was formed based on a hand shadow puppet, which became the focal point of the campaign. The rabbit's shifting scale and presence complemented the show's title, Die Lust der Täuschung ("The Desire of Deception"), reinforcing themes of illusion, perspective, and visual trickery.
The identity extended beyond print and digital materials through a custom wooden rabbit cutout used to project oversized shadows throughout the theater, transforming the promotional campaign into an immersive experience.
